PURSUING AN AVIATION COLLEGE DEGREE AT MAINE INSTRUMENT FLIGHT
Have you ever considered pursuing a college degree in aviation? If you are a traditional (high school) student, it's never too early to begin the long process of researching and comparing the numerous options available. But the cost of attending an on-campus program can be astronomical. There is, however, an option that you may not be aware of: many aviation colleges and universities offer distance learning training allowing anyone with computer internet access to complete college course training on-line. Many of these institutions will assign to you college credit for the FAA pilot certificates and ratings that you can acquire at Maine Instrument Flight -as much as 25% of the total credits required for an associate or bachelor of science degree in aviation. Most will also accept college credits you may already have as long as they are from an accredited institution. The on-line courses are completed at your own pace and you can take one course at a time if you like. Students can save additional money by living at home. The total savings, compared to traditional on-campus attendance, is substantial: by completing flight training locally and taking the online courses while living at home, you can earn an associate or bachelor degree at a total cost that is less than half! There is no need to wait until graduation to begin college training: high school students can receive flight training at Maine Instrument Flight that can later be applied toward college credit. Although Maine Instrument Flight does not offer financing, a variety of outside financing options, grants, and scholarships are available. For more information, contact us at training@mif.aero.
